Legislative

The South Carolina Automotive Council’s parent organization, the South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance (SCMA), is the most influential organization representing manufacturers before the South Carolina legislature and regulatory agencies. We have a dedicated government relations team who are the leading advocates for the state’s manufacturing community. Policy priorities include: workforce and education, taxes and economic development, environment, energy, infrastructure, legal reform, employment, and other issues impacting manufacturing.

Innovation

Spotlight automotive innovation and R&D in the automotive ecosystem. Promote advanced manufacturing excellence and sustainability; identify and present integrated technologies, automation advance and future trends.

Supply Chain

The SCAC partners with manufacturers, suppliers, the SC Department of Commerce and other state and local organizations to facilitate new business connections and to identify gaps in the supplier base for targeted economic development and provide suppliers access to resources and opportunities. The SCAC initiated the Automotive B2B Supplier Matchmaker event co-hosted with the SC Department of Commerce during the SC Automotive Summit to connect OEM and Tier 1 manufacturers with suppliers.

Workforce and Economic Development

The SCAC promotes the continued growth and strengthening of the automotive industry by partnering with state and local organizations in workforce and economic development. The SCAC works to advance SC Future Makers, the SCMA’s signature workforce development initiative. SC Future Makers is designed to connect South Carolina manufacturing and information technology companies with middle and high school students, technical college students, and four-year college students. In partnership with STEM Premier, the South Carolina Department of Commerce, the South Carolina Department of Education, the South Carolina Technical College System, and the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce, SC Future Makers tells the story of South Carolina manufacturing and information technology careers and demonstrates the educational and career pathways students can follow.

Go to scfuturemakers.com to create a company profile showcasing your company and the career opportunities you offer. The site also provides a one-stop shop for students, parents, and educators to learn about manufacturing and information technology careers and how to connect to these jobs and postsecondary opportunities.

Industry Engagement and Events

The SCAC engages on industry relevant topics including trade, government policy, supply chain, quality, workforce and economic development. Our established annual events provide a forum for insightful discussion on trends and issues impacting the industry on a local and global basis.   Our signature industry event is the South Carolina Automotive Summit, which draws engagement from across the automotive spectrum.  These include attendees from OEMs, suppliers, logistics, economic development, government and academia.  The Summit provides an opportunity to learn from industry experts and thought leaders while also facilitating connections and relationships across the automotive community.
